Varsity Holds Retreats For Management Staff

Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) has hosted a maiden retreat for its management and governing council staff where pressing issues and future-focused strategies for institutional growth and governance were discussed.

The event, which took place at the prestigious Army Officers’ Mess and Suite, Sokoto brought together key stakeholders from across high institutions in the Northwest zone of the country.

The head of Information and Public Relations of the university, Jamilu Magaji Muhammed, who briefed journalists in Birnin Kebbi, revealed that the retreat happened on the sidelines of the 30th meeting of the council chaired by the pro- chancellor and chairman of the governing  board, Col. Abdulmuminu Aminu (rtd).

Speaking at the event,  Col. Abdulmuminu Aminu emphasised the importance of visionary leadership and synergy between the council and the management in steering the university towards greater heights.

Also speaking, the vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Muhammad Zaiyan Umar described the retreat as timely, highlighting its importance in fostering strategic alignment, institutional sustainability, and improved service delivery across the university system.

Four thoughts-provoking papers were presented by renowned resource persons on Campus Security and Intelligence, Enhancing Early Warning Signals in Tertiary Institutions, Governing Council and Corporate Governance in Tertiary Institutions and Refection and Tips on the Roles of members of governing council in Nigerian Universities, among others.

The university’s spokesman also noted that the retreat provided a platform for constructive dialogue, exchange of ideas and commitment to actionable outcomes.

Participants resolved to strengthen institutional structures, foster collaboration, and implement forward-looking policies to improve the university’s performance and reputation.
