Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University (KASU), Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, has said the institution’s Kafanchan campus recently won a N1 billion grant from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

Musa told journalists yesterday that the campus made KASU proud by emerging as the only university to win the rigorous N1 billion competitive grant, based on its unparalleled facilities and agricultural financial plan.

According to him, the grant was awarded due to the available infrastructure at the Kafanchan campus of KASU, adding that the award further boosted the varsity’s profile in academic circles.

The Vice Chancellor said that although the campus faces challenges like any other tertiary  institution in the country, “it will be erroneous to say that the Kafanchan campus has been neglected.’’

Prof Musa, who argued that  education got the lion’s share of 25% of the  N985.9 billion budget for 2026,  said  that ‘’the issue of infrastructure across all campuses of KASU will be looked into.’’

‘’Governor Uba Sani’s top priority is education; his administration believes that knowledge is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and securing the future of our children,’’ he said.

“His Excellency’s commitment to education was evident in his first Executive Order, which reduced tuition fees in all state-owned tertiary institutions by 50%,’’ he added.

He said the reduction in school fees increased students’ enrolment at Kaduna State University (KASU), Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, and the College of Education, Gidan Waya.

Prof Musa added that Kaduna State-owned tertiary institutions have introduced new courses that have undergone regulatory agency resource verification.

The Vice Chancellor recalled that most KASU courses, which were hitherto not accredited, have now been accredited by the National University Commission (NUC).

‘’Earlier in the week, KASU won the West Africa’s most outstanding institutional partner for Climate Smart Agriculture award,’’ he added.
