Vice chancellor of Abia State University Uturu, Onyemachi Ogbulu has advocated South East active participation in the forthcoming National Population and Housing Census to ensure it is fully captured.

Ogbulu stated this when the state’s new director of the National Orientation Agency (NAO),  Chibuogwu Edede led the management team on a courtesy visit to him in his office, saying the zone must maximise the opportunity.

He lamented “the lackadaisical attitude of the zone to such critical national programmes,” adding that “unfortunately at the end, the consequences have continued to be irreversible.”

While appreciating the sensitisation efforts of the agency on the just concluded 2023 general election, he explained the importance of census for planning and policy implementation

While congratulating Edede for the appointment, the vice chancellor noted that the university has established a long-standing relationship with the agency in many ways.
