The Vice chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale has appealed to security agencies in Oyo State to further support the institution in ensuring the security in the campus.
Professor Adebowale made the appeal when he led a delegation on courtesy visits to the General Officer Commanding 2 Mechanised Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Obinna Onubogu; the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Ayodele Sonubi and the state Director of the Department of State Services, (DSS), Mr. Rasheed Adelakun.
Adebowale said the security challenges in the country have become hydra-headed requiring combined and concerted efforts to tackle.
He stressed the need for the academia and the security forces to partner towards maintaining law and order in the society.
The VC appreciated the support and services that the institution had received in the past during peace times and periods of unrest.
Responding, Onubogu commended the VC and his delegation for visiting his office.
For his part, the Police Commissioner in Oyo State also appreciated the opportunities provided by the academia for men of the Force to actualise their academic dreams.
In the same vein, the DSS director in the state, Adelakun, assured that the organisation would surpass its earlier services to the institution.
