Veteran broadcaster and media consultant, Mr. Mike Yawe, has paid a courtesy visit to LEADERSHIP Newspaper headquarters in Abuja, seeking partnership and collaboration ahead of the public presentation of his forthcoming book, “Beyond the Airwaves – Memoirs of a Commentator.”

During the visit, Yawe commended LEADERSHIP for its resilience and commitment to truth, describing the newspaper as “a beacon of integrity in an era when sustaining print journalism has become a test of conviction and faith.”

He noted that the late founder of the newspaper, Sam Nda-Isaiah, left behind a legacy of courage and professionalism that continues to guide the brand’s editorial direction.

“LEADERSHIP Newspapers has remained steadfast in upholding values that strengthen the media’s role as a pillar of democracy. The spirit of the late Sam Nda-Isaiah still echoes in the work you do daily, telling the truth fearlessly and shaping national conversations,” he said.

Yawe explained that his forthcoming book chronicles over sixteen years of experience in broadcasting, commentary, and public communication, offering insight into the intersection between media practice and nation-building.

According to him, Beyond the Airwaves captures lessons from Nigeria’s socio-political evolution through the lens of a commentator and seeks to reaffirm the values of credibility, public trust, and responsible journalism.

He said the book launch, scheduled for November 27, 2025, in Abuja, would serve as a platform to celebrate the contributions of Nigerian media professionals to democracy and public enlightenment.

“We are seeking a partnership with Leadership Newspaper for visibility, coverage, and editorial support,” Yawe said. “It is more than a book event; it is a shared celebration of the ideals we all stand for as journalists and communicators.”

He also expressed openness to mutually beneficial collaboration with LEADERSHIP through media exposure and event acknowledgements before, during, and after the book launch.

LEADERSHIP’s Head of Story, Mr. Bayo Amodu, commended Mr. Yawe for his contributions to the media industry and his commitment to promoting excellence in journalism. He inquired about the central message the forthcoming book seeks to convey to readers.

In response, Mr. Yawe explained that Beyond the Airwaves serves as a tribute to the Nigerian media’s role in national development and as a reflection on the values of integrity, professionalism, and public trust that define responsible journalism.

Concluding the visit, the Managing Editor emphasised the importance of mentorship and knowledge transfer across generations of journalists. He urged veteran professionals to continue serving as models and guides for younger practitioners, commending Mr. Yawe for his ongoing efforts in training and mentoring upcoming journalists even in retirement.
