Victims Of Dosunmu Market Fire Will Get Govt Assistance – Bode George

Bode George has assured traders that are victims of fire incident at Dosunmu market on Lagos Island of  getting assistance from State, federal government

Former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olabode George assured the traders whose shops and warehouses got burnt of recent that he would do everything possible to impress on both federal government and state government to assist them to get back on their business.

The Dosunmu market got burnt about a month ago due to the careless attitude of some traders putting fuel into a generator that was on,which exploded and burnt about 20 houses  and 120 key clap stores.

Chief George said he would have visited the traders earlier, but he travelled out of the country when the incident happened.

He impressed it on the traders that, the matter at hand is not a political issue, but issue of welfare of the people and how to get them back on their businesses.

The PDP Chieftain who was accompanied by former deputy governor of the State, Senator Kofoworola Bucknor- Akerele,former state chairman of the PDP, Captain  Tunji Shelle(retired)was received at the market by the traders, who complained that since the market and their wares got burnt, they have not received any assistance from either the federal government or state government.

Speaking on behalf of the traders Oluwatoyin Dosunmu said they were told by the state government to bring their documents that only people with documents that will be attended to by the state government.

 

 

 

Another trader Olalekan Ajanaku said since they have no other means of livelihood, they resorted to making makeshift stalls to display their wares, and the state government have even threatened them to leave the place, or they will evacuate them by force.
