Newcastle United are reportedly in advanced discussions with Bayer Leverkusen regarding the transfer of striker Victor Boniface.
According to the German publication BILD, the two clubs are nearing an agreement that could see Boniface donning the black and white stripes very soon.
Previously, the talented forward was on the verge of joining Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr in January. However, the transfer did not materialise, as the club ultimately chose to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa. This shift in interest has once again put Boniface’s name in the spotlight, with Newcastle keen to bolster their attacking options.
The 24-year-old Nigerian international has faced adversity this season, struggling with injuries that have impeded his performance.
Nevertheless, he has managed to net 11 goals in 27 Bundesliga appearances this term, showcasing his capability as a prolific striker. His contributions were instrumental in helping Bayer Leverkusen secure a domestic double last season, marking him as a critical player in their squad.
Boniface joined Die Werkself from the Belgian Pro League side Union Saint-Gilloise in 2023, quickly making an impact on the German club’s ambitions in both domestic and European competitions. His arrival at Newcastle United could provide a much-needed boost to their attacking lineup, particularly as the club aims to solidify its position in the Premier League and make an impression in European tournaments.
As negotiations progress, supporters of Newcastle United will be eagerly awaiting confirmation of the transfer, which could set the stage for Boniface to showcase his talents in the Premier League. With the potential for this deal to be finalised soon, all eyes will be on the St James’ Park club as they aim to strengthen their squad for the challenges ahead.
