Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, on Wednesday morning, to participate in the 2026 Jigawa State Economic and Investment Summit (J-INVEST 2026), taking place at the Government House.
The development was disclosed on Wednesday by the Vice President’s spokesman, Stanley Kingsley Nwocha, in a post on his verified Facebook page.
According to Nwocha, the summit, themed “Unlocking Investment Opportunities in Jigawa State,” is a flagship government-led investment conference bringing together global investors, development partners and private sector leaders to explore investment opportunities across key sectors of the state’s economy.
VP Shettima was received on arrival by the governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi; the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad; members of the Jigawa State Executive Council, and other senior government officials.
The summit is expected to serve as a platform for showcasing Jigawa State’s investment potential, promoting public-private partnerships and attracting both local and foreign investments to drive economic growth and sustainable development.
LEADERSHIP reports that earlier on Monday, all the seven governors of North-West States, including Kano, Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna, and Jigawa, were in Hadejia local government area of the State, for the official launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme (NCFBP) by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The event, which also attracted cabinet ministers, traditional rulers and other senior government officials, was aimed at strengthening efforts to combat food insecurity and improve nutrition among vulnerable households, particularly pregnant women, nursing mothers and children under the age of six.
