The camp of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has dismissed speculation of internal disagreements over the choice of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as the party’s vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The clarification followed reports and social media claims suggesting that Amaechi had yet to accept the party’s offer, fueling speculation that all was not well within the opposition coalition.

Responding in a post on X on Saturday, one of Atiku’s media aides, Abdulrasheed Shehu, said the delay in formally unveiling Amaechi was solely due to the presidential candidate’s travel schedule and not because of any disagreement within the camp.

According to him, the Atiku–Amaechi ticket had already been concluded.

“Atiku/Amaechi is settled. His Excellency is on a short business trip. Once he returns, Amaechi will be officially unveiled in a few days as the VP candidate. Stop posting fake news,” Shehu wrote.

The statement came amid growing speculation following reports that the ADC had settled for Amaechi as Atiku’s running mate but had yet to make an official announcement.

The delay in confirmation had triggered different interpretations among supporters and political observers, with some suggesting that negotiations were still ongoing behind the scenes.

However, Atiku’s camp insisted there was no crisis over the vice-presidential slot and maintained that the unveiling process would proceed once the candidate returns from his trip.
