About 693 underprivileged families across the Bauchi metropolitan area have benefited from palliatives distributed by the North East Development Commission (NEDC).
The distribution of the relief materials was aimed at cushioning the economic hardship and improving their lives according to the commission.
Executive chairman of the Bauchi State Commission for Youth and Women Rehabilitation and Development (BACYWORD), Tanko Dutse, said the gesture was part of the NEDC’s commitment to improve the lives of citizens, particularly vulnerable families.
He said the NEDC had noted the conditions of poor families in the North Eastern states, particularly youths and women, hence the need to provide the foodstuffs.
Dutse said about 693 people in 17 communities would benefit from the distribution, including Jahun, Kobi, Wunti, Jaja, Yanyamawa, Mabuga, Shagari, and Fada. Others are Wurinje, Shengen Abba, Tuji Tura, Yelwa, Gwangwangwan, Hamlet heads, Zabgai and Spider Securities among others.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the representative of Kobi Hamlet Head, Mallam Ayuba Abubakar Sarkin Aska, promised to utilise the items judiciously and commended Governor Bala Muhammad and the NEDC for their visionary leadership.
