Director-general and chief executive officer of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Comrade Philip Shaibu, has congratulated the Super Falcons on their victory against the hosts, the Lionesses of Morocco, in Saturday’s final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), achieving their set target of ‘Mission X’.
The former deputy governor of Edo State, who was in Rabat to cheer on the Nigerian team, remarked that the squad had again etched itsname in African football history by clinching a record-extending 10th continental title in a thrilling final.
The ex-Bendel Insurance football club player commended the technical crew of the Super Falcons, the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation, and the Mallam Shehu Dikko-led National Sports Commission for their efforts in achieving the set target of Mission X.
This victory marks Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title, further extending their record as the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
