The All Progressives Congress, (APC) North West Alliance for Good Governance (NAGG), has said the leadership of the party I  Sokoto State is safely in the hands of Senator Dr Aliyu Magatakarda Wammako, adding that the ongoing dispute in the state chapter of the APC is a needless distraction.

The declaration was made in Kano, yesterday during a press briefing shortly after a stakeholders quarterly meeting of the APC Northwest Alliance for Good Governance.

Secretary of the group, Comrade Auwal Shuaibu said, “you cannot stop internal wranglings in any political party, but what is supposedly going in our Sokoto State chapter is an avoidable distraction. For years, the party has been peaceful and in tranquility, under the able and tactful leadership of Sen Wammako.

“For some over ambitious elements to come from nowhere ànd try to usurp the leadership structure under Sen. Wammako is the height of deceit” he stated.

“Where were the usurpers, both Sen Lamido and Hon Gudu, when Sen Wammako was painstakingly building the structures over the years?

“I think it is in their best interest to desist from causing distraction and allow the party to remain in peace so as the governor’s should stay focus and deliver democratic dividends to Sokoto people” he added.

Speaking earlier, the chairman of the group, Amb. Abdullahi Muhammad said “In any case, Sokoto State is a major player in the entire Northwest political calculations. And Sen Wammako has always been a critical contributor to the development of the region and the country.

“He has provided direction and fatherly advise to all. His support for the incumbent governor, Dr Aliyu Ahmed is unflinching and refreshing. So what is the need for all these make-believe stories about a crisis.

“Those instigating this should desist from doing so. We need to support both the governor and leadership of the party under Sen. Wammako.

“Just recently, the governor awarded a 17 Billion naira Irrigation Project in Wurno local government. This is in addition to the massive infrastructure ongoing in Sokoto, and other interventions and policies touching lives positively” he stated.

The event saw participants across the seven states which makes up the northwest geopolitical zone.
