We Killed 20 Kidnappers, Arrested 85 In Bauchi In 2023–Police

Bauchi State commissioner of police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, yesterday said operatives killed 20 kidnappers and arrested 85 in the state last year.

He said the police recorded 36 cases of kidnapping and rescued 127 victims from their abductors.

The commissioner who spoke yesterday at a press in Bauchi said over N31million  property and cash was recovered from suspects while property lost, damaged, or stolen was estimated at N62.8 million.

“Some of the notable breakthroughs of the command under my leadership in 2023 include but are not limited to sustained operations, dedication and commitment to secure the state and create a strong security sustainability framework which recorded 414 criminal cases with 673 suspects arrested in connection with the cases.

“Out of this figure, about 406 cases alongside 672 suspects were charged to court for prosecution; 41 cases alongside 59 suspects were successfully convicted; 365 cases with 613 suspects are standing trial and eight cases are still under investigation,” he said.
