The North East Coalition Against Terrorism has welcomed Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, the new Theatre Commander of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), saying they were eager to see life return to normal in the region.

The coalition in a release in Abuja noted that despite the challenges in the region, the armed forces  under the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa would continue to give terrorists sleepless nights.

The release signed by the convener, Ismail Mustapha and secretary, Danlami Bukar, called for support for the new commander.

The coalition advised youths to reject overtures to join organisations that don’t mean well for the people.

It said the posting of the new commander was part of efforts by the military to inject new blood into the anti-insurgency war.

“It is a long time the North-East witnessed total peace.

The region will continue to be behind until all segments of the society line up behind our troops to completely defeat those who have put us in this quagmire. We cannot continue like this. We must speak the truth to ourselves on the situation in the region. How many investors can bring their business to the North-East? This is the time for the North-East to line up behind the armed forces under  Gen. Musa who is working with the other service chiefs to restore peace in our region,” the group said.
