The former Director of Human Resources at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Dr Lazarus Gaza has said that Nigerians must rise up to make the country habitable to all.

Gaza stated this in Abuja when the Godspeed Leadership and Mentorship Development Initiative (GLEMDI) conferred on him an award for long standing support for Orphans, Widows and the less privileged in the community.

According to Gaza, if only everyone will extend a hand of fellowship to his or her neighbour, the country will be a better place to live.

Gaza who said he has always been helping in his capacity not knowing that the society is taking note, said the society will be habitable if people help one another.

“Therefore, it is our collective responsibility to make our society a habitable place for all.  I am encouraged by this gesture, knowing fully that my contribution in giving back to society is recognized and appreciated. This will help me to do more,” Gaza said.

Earlier, the Executive Director, GLEMDI, Habila Kayit said the Non-Governmental Organization is dedicated to promoting forthrightness in nation’s building, determined to advance citizens participation in the drive for good governance in Nigeria.

“Today, we are here to celebrate with an Accomplished Public Servant, a Philanthropist, Mentor and Pace Setter. You have demonstrated strong will to drive for a better society where human dignity is accorded with value and respect. Your act of giving, humility, love and care has brought so much joy and delight to families that have lost hope. We have watched you closely and can confidently attest that your exemplary leadership is contagious and worthy of celebration.

“We celebrate and recognised your Long-Standing support for Orphans, Widows and the Less Privilege in the Society.  The testament of your professional conduct and sacrifices rendered for societal good is commendable. You have proven to be a Man with Remarkable Integrity, Courage, Humility and Commitment to Service.  Thank you for all you do for humanity,” Kayit said.
