Nigerian reggae and dancehall musician, Chinagorom Onuoha, popularly known as ‘African China’, has urged Nigerians to speak up against the country’s worsening insecurity. He called on citizens to use their voices and platforms to demand action from those in authority.
The singer, known for his songs on social issues and governance, said the security crisis has become a problem that affects everyone.
Speaking on the situation, African China said he was deeply troubled by the challenges currently facing the country.
He said:
“I’m not doing well because it’s not a good story, it’s a sad story for every one of us as a Nigerian because the insecurity is really eating up our country.”
The musician urged Nigerians to speak up about the issue; everyone can make a difference, no matter how large or small their platform may be.
“So, no matter how small or big your platform may be, please try to speak about this insurgency happening in the country. You never can tell who is next. It might be you or somebody you know,” he added.
“Let’s all talk and kick against it. This is our country; we have no other place to run to.”
He also spoke about the difficulties faced by Nigerians living abroad. He urged citizens to work together to tackle the challenges affecting the country.
“You can see what’s happening in South Africa; they are asking us to leave their country, so let’s all stand up and speak with one voice,” he concluded.
