We Verified, Approved 53 Films In June, Says NFVCB

National Film and Video Censors Boards ( NFVCB) approved and verified fifty-three films in the month of June.

This includes seven movies for the cinemas , two of which are Nollywood films namely ‘Criminal’ and ‘First Born Child’ produced by Victoria Akujobi and Victoria Ndigidem respectively.

This is according to information from the website of the Censors Board whose executive director is film writer and AMAA jury member, Shuaib Hussein.

Others licensed and approved for public exhibition are foreign movies namely Bad Boys (Ride on Fire) produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, The Watchers,  Chandu Champion by Kabir, Khan and Co, The Garfield movie by John Cohen and Co, as well as “The Kingdom Of The Planet.”

Twenty-six films of the approved and classified movies are from the mecca of Nollywood movies production and distribution –Onitsha in Anambra State using mostly the Igbo culture to tell original stories.

Some of the movies produced in English language include ‘Green Is The New Love, Echeche Nneme, No More Love, Sista Ada, What Truly Matters, The Wise, Otaka, Denied Destiny, Servant Prince, Cat and Rat, Power of the Blindness, She Must Approve and The King Is In Trouble to name a few. Onyeka, Okpeze and Nwankwo Nicodemus produced a good number of the movies.

Fifteen movies are produced in Yoruba language and distributed in Lagos- largely from the Arena in Oshodi where major marketers of the Yoruba-language movies do business.

Some of the drama-themed movies include Soolo, Ale Ijo, Olugbala, Oruko Mi are all produced by Ayoola Benedict. Ipade Ola by Eniola Ajao, Alade, Odun Meje, Ore, Ojo Esan and Asiri Ade among others. Omo Oloro and Nife Loju were produced in Abuja in Yoruba language.

The movies, House Arrest, Alive, Green Is The New Love by Diwa Ishaya are Nollywood English movies produced from Abuja. Nangala produced by Jammaje accounts for the only rated movie this month from Kano.
