The commissioner for works (highways and urban roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, stated this while inspecting progress of work on some road projects in Ughelli metropolis, Ughelli north local government area.

The commissioner who was conducted round the project sites by Olorogun John Oguma, the chairman of Obamkpor Engineering, the contracting firm handling the project for the state government, disclosed that the four major link road projects in the Ughelli Urban area were awarded to decongest the daily gridlocks at Otowodo junction of the Ughelli-Patani East-West Expressway and environs.

He said; “For long term durability, the state government decided to award concrete roads designed with drainages on both sides to channel water to natural waterways.

“Delta State government will continue to patronise contractors that deliver quality projects in line with the ministry’s bill of quantity, BOQ,” he said.

He stated that the days where contractors built poor and substandard roads were over, warning that any firm found executing shoddy jobs would face the law and refund every penny given to it by government.

Olorogu John Oguma said his firm had been providing standard roads and bridges in the state for decades and assured Deltans of more quality services.

The ministry’s engineer supervising the projects, Senikwe Oghenerume, said the two side drains and earth work had been completed in most areas of the job to pave way for reinforcement of iron work and laying of stone base and asphalting.
