Best Dressed Stars of the Week

Nigerian celebrities don’t need a red carpet to remind us why the country remains one of Africa’s fashion capitals. Week after week, they step out at premieres, celebrations, movie sets and intimate gatherings, serving looks that are bold, intentional and impossible to ignore. And honestly, this week was no different.

From dramatic couture gowns dripping in beadwork to impeccably tailored suits, heritage fabrics reimagined for a modern audience and playful styling choices that break all the rules, our stars gave us plenty to admire. Some embraced timeless glamour. Others pushed the boundaries of style. A few managed to do both and made it look easy.

What makes these looks memorable isn’t just the clothes. It’s the thought behind them. Every outfit tells a story of personality, confidence and cultural pride. Fashion, after all, is more than fabric. It is identity. It is self-expression. Sometimes, it is even a little rebellion.

Here are the stars who caught our attention this week. The ones who showed up, stood out, and reminded us once again why Nigerian fashion continues to captivate the world.

Chioma Ikokwu – Old-Hollywood Velvet Glamour

Chioma Ikokwu takes the top spot this week in a breathtaking black velvet gown that felt equal parts classic and commanding. The off-shoulder sweetheart neckline framed her beautifully, while the intricate beadwork around the waist added sparkle and texture against the richness of the velvet.

Then came the drama. A sweeping asymmetrical detail rose elegantly above one shoulder, giving the entire look an air of grandeur without feeling overdone. Paired with a crystal-embellished clutch and dazzling jewellery, Chioma delivered a lesson in timeless glamour. Sometimes, black truly is all you need.

Adeola “Diiadem” Adeyemi – Akwete Heritage Meets Modern Silhouette

Diiadem earned her place on this week’s list by celebrating heritage in a way that felt fresh and exciting. Her fringed ensemble, crafted from traditional Akwete fabric, featured earthy tones and striking geometric patterns that beautifully honoured Nigerian craftsmanship.

The beadwork along the straps added richness without overwhelming the outfit, while the dramatic fringe brought movement and texture.

It was a look rooted in tradition, yet completely at home in today’s fashion landscape. And that’s what made it special.

Mercy Eke – Ankara Two-Piece with Luxury Finishing

Mercy Eke brought fun and sophistication together in a vibrant Ankara two-piece that was impossible to miss.

The rich red fabric, decorated with star motifs, created a playful foundation, while the sleeveless collared vest added structure and polish. A tiered mini skirt gave the look youthful energy, but perhaps the most striking styling choice was her green Lady Dior handbag.

It was unexpected. A little daring, even. Yet somehow, it worked perfectly, proving once again that great style often lies in the details.

Dede Ashiogwu – Denim Reinvented with Lace and Drama

Dede Ashiogwu proved that denim can be anything but ordinary.

Her three-piece ensemble played beautifully with contrasts. A delicate lace bralette softened the ruggedness of the denim, while the mermaid-style skirt balanced structure with femininity.

But it was the floor-length coat that truly stole the show. Dramatic and imaginative, it transformed a familiar fabric into something extraordinary. The entire look felt fearless, and fashion always rewards a little bravery.

Yvonne Godswill – Oversized Florals and Structured Volume

Yvonne Godswill embraced the joy of dressing with a look that was colourful, expressive and effortlessly cool.

An oversized printed shirt brought vibrancy and artistic flair, while voluminous black trousers grounded the ensemble with structure and drama. Red floral earrings echoed the tones of the shirt beautifully, creating a sense of harmony throughout the look.

And then there was the burgundy Hermès Birkin. Luxurious without trying too hard.

The entire outfit felt playful yet polished. Proof that comfort and high fashion can absolutely exist in the same sentence.

Denrele Edun – Birthday Royalty in Aso-Oke

Denrele Edun didn’t just celebrate his 45th birthday. He turned it into a fashion spectacle.

For his desert shoot, he wore a sweeping robe crafted from multicoloured Aso-Oke, blending rich purples, emerald greens, vibrant magentas and striking turquoise into a breathtaking display of colour. Thick fringes cascaded from the sleeves and across the layers, adding movement and drama with every step.

It was bold. It was theatrical. It was unmistakably Denrele.

Denrele reminded us that fashion is never just about clothes.

At its best, style tells the world exactly who you are.
