American actress Blake Lively has asked a court to allow evidence of alleged comments made about her weight to be presented to the jury in her upcoming trial against director Justin Baldoni.
According to court documents obtained by media outlets on Wednesday, the Gossip Girl star is fighting Baldoni’s attempt to block the information from being used in court.
Lively alleged in her lawsuit that, before a scene in the movie ‘It Ends With Us’ in which Baldoni was required to lift her, he called her personal trainer to ask about her weight. Baldoni reportedly claimed he had back problems and needed to be careful, but Lively took offence at the call.
The actress argued that the jury needs to hear about the weight-related comments to understand the full context of the case. She believes the remarks support her claim that Baldoni retaliated against her on set.
However, Justin Baldoni has described the allegations as “irrelevant.” He insisted that any conversation he had with her trainer had nothing to do with the legal dispute and could unfairly bias the jury against him.
The legal battle follows reports of a fallout between the two stars during the film’s production. The trial is expected to begin in May.
