Yobe State governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding democratic principles by delivering impactful services that improve the lives of the people.
In his Democracy Day message issued by his director general Press Affairs and Media, ALhaji Mamman Mohammed said Governor Buni described the people of Yobe as the true pillars of democracy, noting that their support for government policies and programmes has strengthened democratic governance in the state.
The governor emphasized that 26 years of uninterrupted democratic rule in Nigeria has fostered a greater sense of participation and ownership among citizens.
“lt is gratifying that democracy has provided an opportunity for the people to have their voices heard and participate in governance, and to own the government,” Buni said.
The governor also pointed out that the inclusion of youths as commissioners, chief executives of agencies, special advisers, assistants, and focal persons has enhanced governance and representation in Yobe.
“In Yobe State, we have maintained an open-door policy to give the people the opportunity to contribute to governance, and this has given the populace a true sense of belonging and ownership,” he added.
Governor Buni expressed confidence in a prosperous future for the state and the country, built on the active involvement of young people in politics and governance.
He pledged that all ongoing projects will be completed to ensure they deliver value and tangible benefits to the citizens, reinforcing the dividends of democracy.
The governor also urged residents to support democratic progress by embracing agriculture during the rainy season, supporting security agencies, and promoting peaceful coexistence throughout the state.
