A woman from Bridgend has admitted swindling people out of almost £3,000 by selling sham tickets for American pop star and songwriter Taylor Swift’s much-anticipated Eras Tour.

Amy Rees, 38, of Nantymoel, Bridgend, in Wales, appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Monday, accused of fraud against 12 people, totalling over £2,800. The court found that the offences happened between September 2023 and June 2024. The largest amount swindled from a single person was £623.

Rees spoke just to confirm her name, age and address and then repeated “guilty” to the 12 counts of fraud against her.

Rees’s lawyer said she had previously been of “clean character”, and the court ordered a pre-sentence report to be drafted before she would be sentenced.

She was granted unconditional bail, and a preliminary sentencing date has been set for 10 March at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court.

Swift performed at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium in June 2024 as part of her 21-month-long Eras tour, during which she visited 50 cities. Tickets were in high demand, selling out instantly, with more fans desperate to get hold of them. Some tickets were resold on some sites for thousands of pounds. Eventually, 67,000 fans made it inside the Principality Stadium to watch the singer perform.

It is not the first time Swift has had people defraud her fans by selling fake tickets to her shows. In 2015, a 32-year-old Edmonton woman was charged with several offences in connection with the sale of fraudulent Taylor Swift concert tickets. And in 2024, another woman in Toronto was arrested after defrauding dozens of Taylor Swift fans out of almost $70,000 by promising tickets that never showed up, police say.
