As prominent Nigerians and organisations continue to express their grief and emotions over the passing of the matriarch of the Ikoli family, Wema and Polaris Bank have extended their condolences to Anthony George-Ikoli on the death of his dearly beloved mother.

In separate messages, the banks expressed sorrow over Mrs Ikoli’s death, which occurred at 93.

In a letter signed by Olaniyi Saheed, the Business Development Manager of Wema Bank, Lagos, and Lucky Imoisilli, the Zonal Manager, LM, the bank expressed solidarity with the family during this period of mourning.

The statement noted that the bank was deeply saddened by the loss and urged the bereaved family to take solace in Madam Ikoli’s good works. It also described her as a woman embodying virtue and nobility while praying for the repose of her soul.

Similarly, Polaris Bank has also extended its sympathies to the family of Mrs Elsie Ajayi Ikoli.

In a letter signed by its Relationship Manager, Nta Henshaw, and Branch Manager, Chibuzo Ogbonna, the bank acknowledged Mrs Ikoli’s contributions to the growth and legacy of the Ikoli family.

The statement read in part: “It was with deep sadness that we received the news of the passing of your dear mother, Mrs Elsie Ajayi Ikoli. On behalf of the Management and Staff of Polaris Bank, we wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to you and your family during this difficult time.

We understand that the loss of a mother leaves a void that cannot be easily filled. May you find strength in the cherished memories you shared with her, and may her legacy of love and guidance continue to comfort and inspire you.

Please be assured of our thoughts and prayers as you go through this period of grief. We stand with you and wish you and your family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”

Mrs Elsie Ajayi Ikoli passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at her home in Lagos, Nigeria.
