Victor Wembanyama delivered a sensational performance, scoring a season-high 41 points to power the San Antonio Spurs to a 127–113 victory over the Golden State Warriors, extending their winning streak to 10 games on Thursday.
The 22-year-old French star was dominant throughout the contest at the Chase Center in California, recording his impressive tally in just 29 minutes while also grabbing 18 rebounds in a commanding all-round display.
San Antonio’s resurgence in the second half of the season has been remarkable, with the Spurs now winning 26 of their last 28 games to firmly establish themselves as serious NBA title contenders.
Support came from Stephon Castle and Julian Champagnie, who each contributed 15 points as the Spurs strengthened their position in the Western Conference standings. They currently sit second, just two wins behind leaders the Oklahoma City Thunder.
For the Warriors, the defeat marked a second consecutive loss, leaving them 10th in the Western Conference and under pressure as the race for play-off places intensifies.
Elsewhere, in the Eastern Conference, Boston Celtics consolidated their grip on second place with a high-scoring 147–129 win over the Miami Heat.
Jaylen Brown led the way with a game-high 43 points, while Jayson Tatum recorded a triple-double of 25 points, 18 rebounds and 11 assists as Boston bounced back from their recent defeat to the Atlanta Hawks.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks ended a three-game losing streak with a 130–119 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. The Knicks remain third in the Eastern Conference standings, while Memphis sit 12th in the West.
