The member representing Ohafia South constituency in Abia State House of Assembly, Kalu Mba Nwoke has said the people are eternally grateful to the governor, Alex Otti for embarking on the reconstruction of Ohafia-Arochukwu road.

Nwoke made the remark while speaking to LEADERSHIP after the governor flagged off the reconstruction of the decades-abandoned road at Old Soldier Junction, Ebem Ohafia, in Ohafia local government.

He lamented that since the defunct Eastern Region government in the 1960s constructed the 41.4-kilometer road linking the state with Akwa Ibom, successive administrations in the state had abandoned it to decay.

“Honestly, we can’t thank him enough for embarking on this laudable project. Our prayer is that this job will be completed as soon as scheduled to end the miseries travellers are passing through on the road,” he said.

The chairman of the House Committee on Environment and Urban Renewal also commended the senator for Abia North district, Orji Uzor Kalu for initiating the rehabilitation of Asaga-Ndi Orieke road in the constituency.

“We’re now in session of road construction, reconstruction and rehabilitation, and other democracy dividends we have been expecting over the years. It is noteworthy that their time has come.”

He argued that when completed, the roads and the others the administration had embarked on in the constituency would bring many turn around in the socio-economic life of the people.

Therefore, the lawmaker solicited the people’s support and cooperation for Otti, Kalu, and the constructing firms, saying such attitudes would encourage them to do their best for the constituency.
