The Northern Political League has expressed interest in future elections to dislodge President Bola Tinubu from power in 2027.

The league’s spokesman, Ladan Saliu, disclosed this on a Channels TV programme, Politics Today, which our correspondent  monitored in Abuja yesterday.

He said the group, being a broad-based organisation with members across party lines, had taken exception with the level of disregard to leadership failures in the region.

Ladan,  a former director general of the FRCN, said a great number of Nigerians of northern extraction were disappointed that the North does not seem to act in a manner that recruits the best leaders.

He added that the current crop of northern structure had failed to hold leaders accountable for the backwardness of the region.

He added, “Other northern organisations have fallen short of our expectations to address sensitive issues patterning to the North, especially when it comes to leadership recruitment.”

He said the group was, therefore, interested in providing a credible alternative in 2027 to wrestle power from the current leaders.

He attributed leadership failure currently being witnessed in the country to poor recruitment process.

“People are disappointed that we cannot come up with one voice to speak with on critical issues,” he said, adding that they would be interested in the 2027 elections and others thereafter.

Earlier, a chieftain of the NNPP, Buba Galadima, said President Bola Tinubu should take the blame for the failure of his appointees.

“I don’t accuse any minister of not performing; I blame the person who appointed him,”

Galadima said. He said Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso would have done better (than Tinubu) if he were elected president, adding that nobody is interested in developing Nigeria, but only their pockets.

Galadima said God was saving Kano from catastrophe because left for the federal government, the state would have gone up in flames.
