The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-West zonal vice chairman, Engr. Kamoru Ajisafe, has said the party was not bothered with the defections of some big names in the party to other parties ahead of the November 16th governorship election in Ondo State.
Speaking yesterday at the inauguration of the newly constituted party caretaker committee in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Ajisafe described those defecting to another party as “inconsequential.”
Narrating how the PDP was able to bounce back in Osun State, the PDP chairman said, “Don’t be discouraged by the news of some big names or some people leaving your party for another. When we started in Osun State, many big men deserted us. The big names are bigger than the ones you hear in your State. But today, the story has changed.”
According to him, “Those who are leaving now have left a long time ago. So, it is now that they know that we can no longer absolve their shenanigans that they are leaving. We have the majority of their followers with us. Their leaving is very inconsequential.”
Ajisafe, who, however, expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s ability not to allow anything that will truncate the present democratic system in the country, noted that the people of the state will not allow manipulation of election results.
He said, “With everyone’s cooperation, we are winning. Ondo will fall into the hands of the PDP. Don’t be discouraged by the news that some people are not with or leaving us. Once God is with us, Ondo will fall into the hands of PDP. We are all on the same page, and all hands are on deck to ensure that we take over the governance of the state.
