The rector of Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, Chris Okoro, has said the polytechnic is open to synergy with other higher institutions for research, innovations, and project implementation.
Okoro made the assertion while speaking to LEADERSHIP in Aba, following the Abia State government’s selection of the former Abia State Polytechnic as its export growth laboratory.
The selection was made shortly after a delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and officials of the government toured facilities at the polytechnic.
He said the choice cannot be far-fetched from the polytechnic’s centrality to Aba, the commercial hub of the state.
“Yes, of course, you could expect that the export growth laboratory is supposed to bring a lot of collaboration and partnership from different groups across the globe.
“UNDP is one of the organizations that we expect to partner with us. We’re also expecting other international organizations to partner with us in this line of action.
“There is no doubt that this synergy will also bring the much-needed effect on the economy of Abia State. So, I think it is a very good one,” according to the rector.
Okoro also expressed gratitude to the state governor, Alex Otti, for the numerous successes the polytechnic has recorded since he became rector.
