Brother of the former Governor of Ekiti State, Isaac Fayose, has tackled the First Lady of Nigeria, Remi Tinubu, over her appeal to music stars.
While inspecting the National Community Food Bank Project for North Central, Remi Tinubu appealed to music stars like Davido, Burna Boy and Asake to help those in need of funds for business. She said that though the Maybachs and Rolls-Royces are good, they can still help others. She added that the burden is too much on the government.
Reacting to her statement, Fayose disagreed with her, questioning what the Governors are doing with their public funds. He questioned why APC governors can’t set aside N500 million every month to support póor people in their respective states.
Fayose further questioned why Remi asked them to purchase SUVs for APC women leaders while many Nigerians across the country continue to struggle with poverty.
“I disagree with you that Davido, Burna Boy and Asake should use the money they spend on luxurious cars for charity in Nigeria. What about our Governors? What are they doing with public funds? Why can’t APC state Governors set aside N500 million every month to support poor people in their respective states?
Why did you ask them to purchase SUVs for APC Women Leaders while many Nigerians across the country continue to struggle with poverty?”
Last month, while addressing the State House Correspondents after the Renewed Hope Initiative’s second-quarter meeting, Remi had advised struggling citizens to consider small-scale businesses such as selling akara, roasted corn, and kuli-kuli. She had said they require little capital to start.
