Hadejia became the 10th local government visited by Governor Malam Umar Namadi in his ongoing “Citizens Engagement Programme” ( Gwamnati Da Jama’a ). What made this visit unique was the massive crowd that flooded the streets to welcome their amiable governor.
For spectators, whether present in person or watching via live media coverage, Governor Namadi’s arrival at the ancient city gate was a sight to behold. The faces of the Hadejia people radiated joy, happiness, respect, and appreciation as they gathered to catch a glimpse of their performing governor.
It took the governor over an hour and a half to reach the Emir’s palace from the city gate, during which time he received goodwill greetings from youths, women, elders, and children, all visibly delighted with his leadership.
Upon arrival at the palace for a courtesy visit, Governor Namadi was accorded the highest form of royal reception.
The Emir of Hadejia, Dr. Adamu Abubakar Maje, addressed the governor, saying, “Your Excellency, your actions stand out clearly. People praise your performance. Your efforts bring joy to the people. Thank you for your people-oriented governance.”
The Emir commended Governor Namadi’s administration for implementing various programs and projects that have improved lives over the past two years. He also urged citizens to continue supporting the governor’s vision to make Jigawa great.
Dr. Adamu Abubakar Maje further expressed appreciation for the state’s agricultural transformation, positioning Jigawa as a key player in ensuring national food security.
“The reforms in health, education, water supply, job creation, poverty eradication, economic growth, social services, and public service have rekindled hope among citizens for achieving Greater Jigawa,” he said
His Highness also called on all well-meaning citizens to contribute by fulfilling their civic roles to achieve these goals.
However, on behalf of the people across the eight local government areas under the emirate, the Emir thanked the governor for his dedication and presented gifts of farm produce and livestock in recognition of his selfless commitment to good governance.
In response, Governor Namadi explained that he was in Hadejia for the *Citizens’ Public Engagement—a state government initiative designed to interact with citizens and update them on the administration’s achievements over the past two years.
The governor added that the engagement also allows citizens to voice their demands, helping the government prepare an annual budget that aligns with their needs.
He assured the Emir and the people of Jigawa of his administration’s commitment to pursuing projects and programs that improve livelihoods and ensure sustainable development.
During the “Citizens Engagement Programme” held at the College of Nursing lecture hall in Hadejia, the community representatives presented Governor Namadi with a document outlining their charter of demands.
In line with tradition, several government officials highlighted the projects and programs executed by the Namadi administration in the local government.
Governor Namadi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Hadejia for their overwhelming love and support, describing the reception as exceptional.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Hadejia Emirate for this great honour. Your Royal Highness, from the moment we entered Hadejia, it took nearly one and a half hours to reach the palace due to the massive crowd to welcome us.”
“Today, I have truly felt the spirit of the Hadejia Emirate. I am deeply grateful. May God strengthen our bond.”
The governor highlighted key projects underway in Hadejia Local Government, the construction of a new permanent site for the School of Nursing, and the completion of the Hadejia Specialist Hospital., An ambitious water project to enhance clean water access, Numerous ongoing road projects and gaining employment for 265 youths across various sectors.
He assured the people of Hadejia that his administration remains committed to addressing their needs as outlined in the document submitted by community leaders.
During the visit, Governor Namadi commissioned the Danmodi Special School for the Talented, built by the Hadejia Local Government Chairman and a Primary Healthcare Centre established by Senator Abdul Hamid Malam Madori, representing the Jigawa Northeast constituency.
The governor described the health facility as a high-standard project that will complement the government’s efforts to ensure functional primary healthcare in every political ward in the state.
The Sunday 22nd June 2025 peaceful and harmonious Hadejia visit underscored the overwhelming support and goodwill Governor Umar Namadi enjoys from the people of Jigawa State.
