When Things Were A lot Better In The Country

According to my grandpa, back then, things were a lot more affordable. Imagine paying for transport with 50 kobo!! School fees N50?? And if you had N100 you were in money!! The country was a place where in a community or residential area your child was everybody’s child.

You could correct the neighbour’s child if they misbehaved, one could even go to bed at night with the doors unlocked. I remember grandpa telling us of how they would take out their mats to sleep out on the verandah of their home at night when the weather was hot.

(You dare not try that now!!). The train travels were a delight, even though it was ran on coal at the time.
