The Dawanau Grains Market Development Association (DGMDA) has said the provision of numerous access roads and potable water to major parts of the International Grains Market by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and other donor agencies has brought down food prices.
The assertion was made yesterday by the president of the association, Alhaji Muttaka Isa when he received a delegation from the bank at Dawanau Market in Dawakin Tofa local government area.
He said the access roads, drinking water and others essential facilities provided to the market would also uplift the status of the market to international standard.
“With the coming and support from the IsDB and LLF we are now witnessing the execution of all these projects.
“This is indeed a turning point in the life and history of Dawanau Market. The mark these projects will leave will be indelible in the history of LLF and ISDB interventions in Africa.
“Today, with numerous access to major parts of the market, the cost of goods will go down substantially.
“Similarly, in case of fire accidents, the fire service trucks would have access to the point of needs. Flooding, that had been a decimal problem for the market year-in-year-out, is now addressed with the various drainages being built,” he said.
The bank has expressed satisfaction with the quality of work both completed and ongoing at the Dawanau International Grains Market in Kano State.
The leader of the LLF delegation, Adir Shareef made this known in Kano after inspecting some projects in the market led by the president of the market association.
