Do you ever wonder why most people in Africa love Nigerian music? Have you ever asked yourself a myriad of questions about why Nigerian music keeps ruling Africa? You don’t need to worry or beat yourself up. This is because this article will give you a clearer understanding of why most people love Nigerian music. The fundamental objective is to answer why Nigerian music rules the African continent.

Recently, people have been asking how Nigerian music managed to rule the African continent. You may need to know why people have focused on such questions, but the answer is that a lot of them have been criticizing different types of music in Nigeria with the mindset that the music lacks content. Despite such thoughts, Nigerian music is currently ruling the African continent. Notably, other countries could not tolerate Nigerian music being played on radio stations and at entertainment events.

For instance, in Kenya, some protests called for the ban of different types of music from Nigeria. These protests were calling for a ban on music being played in clubs and on radio stations. They thought playing Nigerian music could outlaw indigenous artists from this country from having the opportunity to showcase their stuff. In this way, it is blatant that Nigerian music has started to be popular and to rule the African continent. Interestingly, it has started to make waves internationally, even though pundits say it lacks content. The reasons why Nigerian music rules Africa are discussed below.

First, it is worth noting that Nigeria is a country that has experienced population growth, with approximately 200 million citizens. Besides this, it is regarded as the most populous country in Africa. Further, some states in this nation are more populous than some in African countries. Therefore, this combination has enabled Nigerians to develop more music content than other continents in Africa. Crucially, producing more music content, however, does not mean that the music from Nigeria is the best. Still, some of the music they produce usually stands a high chance of outnumbering the music produced by their neighbors.

Another reason is that Nigeria consists of diverse cultures. Since this nation has many tribes, each of the tribes has its own unique style of producing music. These different styles and cultures provide purposeful resources for Nigerian artists, which further contribute to the richness of their music. If you closely listen to Nigerian songs, you will discover various elements from different ethnic groups. Essentially, Nigerians are innovative, which makes them have little faith in their government. In this way, you are assured that you can do something for yourself. There was a period when Nigerian music could hardly be played since it lacked quality content. This made many Nigerian artists start cloning foreign music and enriching it with their local style. Their music grew in quality to replace foreign music in Nigerian clubs and radio stations.

Moreover, the population of Nigerians that is present in other countries has made Nigerian music rule Africa. It is very rare to go to an African country with a Nigerian community. When these people travel from Nigeria, they bring their culture and music; hence, Nigerian music and movies are almost always available and diffused in many African countries. Accordingly, Nigerians are rich people, enabling them to invest more than other African countries. Recent studies show that Nigerian artists can produce the best music on the African continent.

There are many music schools in Nigeria where people are taught the art of quality music production. Music in Nigeria has a basic minimum standard because they understand the importance of quality. They always charge a small amount of money to take music students through school and give them an orientation on how to play in the international league. These music schools are very important because they are not like any other place where a few things are taught. By the time artists are clearing the music lessons, they will look experienced and ahead of the curve, and they will always go ahead of those who never went through music classes.

Music labels and groups also help to grow Nigerian music. It takes a lot of time, energy, and resources for an artist to grow on their own. On rare occasions, do we experience the boom of a music career where the artist was a one-man or one-woman show? In Nigeria, big companies, music labels, and record labels locate raw talent and nurture it to grow. They also fund them to use state-of-the-art studios so that their music gets mileage. It is always a win-win situation for both the music record and the signed artists. That is why musicians in other parts of Africa struggle to succeed in music because they don’t use the shoulders of giants to rise.

The country is the most populous in Africa, and its numbers are skyrocketing. With a population of more than 300 million citizens, social media helps them raise their influence in every part of the country. The average number of citizens in Africa is 50 million, and a large percentage are not on social media. In Nigeria, more than 100 million people are active on social media, and they help to advance the course of music for themselves. That is why, in terms of music, Nigeria is ahead of the curve compared to other African countries.

Furthermore, Nigerians are more exposed to good music production than people in other African countries. Their artists are more dynamic, natural, and adventurous. Whenever they travel, they come back with foreign cultures that help enrich their music. This explains better why the country is ahead of the curve in terms of producing good music. The most dominant thing about their culture is that they give it their best.

In conclusion, people have started loving Nigerian music and ruling the African continent. Including different music styles related to their ethnic groups in their country ensures that their music is special compared to that of their neighbors. Their music has been booming at a higher rate nowadays. If you want to listen to the best music, you cannot listen to Nigerian music.
