Bauchi State governor Bala Mohammed has said political permutation was the main reason he dropped his deputy, Senator Baba Tela, in his second term bid.
Bala Mohammed said, “Senator Baba Tela has been a friend and nobody would go with the intention that we were not together. It is just the issue of political permutations, and so on and so forth. Baba Tela is my brother even before we knew what we would be, I don’t have any quarrel with him.”
Bala Mohammed picked Hon Mohammed Auwal Jatau as his running mate for the March 18, 2023 election and they won the 2023 general election together.
At a valedictory session with members of his cabinet in Bauchi, Governor Bala said, “I appreciate Baba Tela so much even though he is not going along with me again, but he is part and parcel of me forever, because it is just political permutations that has let him out.”
Speaking to the cabinet members generally, the governor said, “I pick you on my own free oblation and I pick you because you merited it and you represent your local government area, because you contribute to my ascension.”
He added, “So definitely, governance is like this, but certainly I don’t have any grudge with anybody. All of you are part and parcel of this government, the government that we have started in 2018/2019.”
I believe the government is going and it would blossom by 2027 when we would have one of you, maybe to take over from me.”
