National vice president of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) South South Zone, Archbishop Emmah Gospel Isong, has explained why he initiated the “7 Angels’ Arena” project on Idoro Road in Akwa Ibom State.
According to him, the project upon completion would be a value addition to the administration of Governor Umo Eno (also a clergyman) who has been passionate about bringing development to the state.
In a telephone conversation with LEADERSHIP, Isong stated that the project aims to boost tourism development and promote peace in the state.
He explained that the Arena would generate employment opportunities for youths particularly in the host community, complementing Governor Eno’s development efforts.
Isong described the project as a mission, designed as a multi-purpose hub reflecting a seven-fold special transformation.
He promised to use the arena as a global hub for Christian leadership engagement, business and leisure resort.
“The Arena will also feature sports facilities, administrative offices, estates, farms, schools, events center, and commercial outlets to drive development in Akwa Ibom State,” Isong said.
The cleric appealed to the state governor to support the project, requesting assistance with power supply, an amphitheater, and shuttle buses.
He promised to establish a library to preserve and document the legacies of departed fathers of faith like late Archisbishop Benson Idahosa, Dr. Uma Ukpai, Methodist Prelate Sunday Mbang, Elijah Mboho who created much impact in the development of the nation.
“If there is anything that gladdens my heart is the fact that the governor has directed the Commissioner for Power to install a transformer at the site within one month to support the library project,” Isong said.
Isong lauded Governor Umoh Eno for supporting the initiative after Eno asked sons and daughters at home and in diaspora to support the project. He said, “We are the ones to build this state, and we have to.”
Isong expressed confidence that the project would become a global hub for Christian leadership engagement, thanking the governor for his support.
