Immediate past lawmaker representing Yala 1, state constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly (CRHA) Regina Anyogo, has charged undergraduates wishing to reach the peak of their academic pursuit to be dogged, hardworking and resilient if they desire to get to the zenith.

Anyogo gave the charge while answering questions from LEADERSHIP shortly after she was conferred with a PhD degree in rehabilitation counselling at the 37th convocation ceremony of the University of Calabar during the weekend.

The former lawmaker, who bagged a doctorate degree from the Department of Guidance and Counseling, averred that with hard work and determination, any serious-minded student can scale academic hurdles to his or her destination.

The former lawmaker lauded her husband, Barr. Leonard Anyogo, whom she described as a motivator and backbone in her pursuit of acquiring a doctorate degree.

“I never knew I could withstand the rigour associated with the programme. Until My one and only hubby Barr Anyogo pushed me to the wall. He brought out the best in me.

“He always told me honey, you must complete this programme same time with your counterparts.

“I know completing the programme isn’t a tea party. Of course, with hard work, you will certainly complete the programme. I thanked God it came out just as he said.”

In his remarks, the husband to the ex-Yala state constituency lawmaker, Barr

Leonard Anyogo described the doctorate degree by his wife as an academic milestone and the beginning of greater success for the family.

“This achievement is a testament to her resilience and dedication to making a difference in her society”, Mr. Anyogo stated.

The state commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey, lauded the former state Assembly lawmaker for the stride and assured her of better days ahead after bagging a PhD degree, which he described as a hard nut that, when cracked, could turn around the fortunes of one’s life.
