The actress faced heavy criticism following her fight with fellow cast mates, Laura Ikeji and Faith Morey.
Iyabo said she chose to become the villain in the second season of the show because the producers told her she had low ratings in the first season.
She explained that after receiving feedback about her low ratings in the first season, she decided to step up her game in the second season and become the villain by adding a touch of drama. Iyabo Ojo said on Instagram in 2023:

“There is no real housewives without drama, It is not possible. So if you choose to not give drama, you know you have to be on the calm side. Last year, Laura chose to give drama and that is why most of the time when we asked Laura “Why are you behaving like this?” She would say it’s for the show, no hard feelings. That does not mean that fights don’t happen on the show.
“There are certain things that happen on the show, that you are given directives to do. For me, the show told me that in season one, my ratings were low because I did not do any drama, I really didn’t do drama so my ratings were low. So, I said this year, I said I will give drama.”
