An aspirant for national ex-officio of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the North Central Zone, Hajiya Farida Umar has expressed confidence that the party will bounce back stronger in 2027.

Umar said the party will not only take its rightful place, but take over power from the APC-led government which she said has under-performed.

Umar, who spoke to journalists, maintained that Nigerians still rely on the PDP to reposition the country for the better.

She however emphasised the need for unity and transparency during the upcoming congress in order to ensure the right leaders emerge to lay a solid foundation for the party’s success come 2027.

“This is a crucial time to ensure the right leaders emerge, laying a solid foundation for the party to take over power from the failed APC led federal government,” she noted.

Speaking of her aspiration, Umar  pledged to strengthen and develop PDP ahead of the 2027 elections if elected as the national ex-officio.

According to her, having served as director-general PDP support groups across 36 states, member of the National Women Campaign Council in 2023, and convener, director-general of the Aspiration Grassroots Mobilisation Alliance (AGMA) has prepared her for the role ahead.

She added that with her experience and proven track record of holding several positions at both state and national levels, she is confident in her ability to make a positive impact in the party.
