Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, has said former governor, Ramalan Yero, Sen. Shehu Sani, among other prominent opposition politicians decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) due to his inclusive and people’s centred policies and programmes.
Addressing supporters at the mega rally held at Murtala Muhammed Square, Kaduna, at the weekend, governor Sani told the decampees that APC is one family.
Governor further assured the 50 political stalwarts who defected to the APC that they will enjoy the same rights and privileges as every other party member.
But Senator Lawal Usman, representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has mocked APC in Kaduna State for allegedly renting a crowd for their rally, describing the party as “Papalolo.”
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator made this statement, in a Facebook post reacting to APC’s rally, challenged the party to conduct an election in at least one ward within the state to test its true popularity.
He accused the party of deceiving Nigerians by assembling a rented crowd for the event.
However, Governor Sani, at the APC rally, assured the decampees that there is no difference between a party member that joins today and the ones that have been in APC ten years ago.
Sani said, “In 2027 election, the electorate will vote for APC in all the elections, from top to bottom. At the top, our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be elected. At the state level, the party will be voted for at the gubernatorial, National and State Assembly elections, by the Grace of God,’’ he said.
The Governor promised that projects will be executed in all the nooks and cranny of Kaduna State, irrespective of party affiliations and ethno-religious considerations.
Meanwhile, in his post, the PDP senator, Usman said: “APC is like Papalolo in Kaduna State. If you truly knew you had the support of your ‘rented crowd,’ why didn’t you allow the conduct of an election in at least one ward within the state? Even the governor could not cast his vote at his polling station during the time.”
