Mrs. Florence Nweke, the wife of the immediate-past Head of Service of Rivers State, Dr. George Nweke, has raised the alarm over the whereabouts of her husband.

Nweke resigned from office on Monday, March 24, 2025, citing personal reasons.

The former Head of Service had on Friday addressed a press conference in Abuja, where he made several revelations about the political crisis in the state.

But, a few hours after the conference, his wife, Florence, raised alarm that her husband had been kidnapped.

She said: “When he got to Abuja, he called that he had landed. I said, ‘Thank God’. “The next thing I saw this (Friday) night, people were calling me and saying he got an interview. I said, ‘What interview? Interview for what?’ Not until I saw things flying on the internet that he granted an interview. What happened? I said, ‘That is not my husband. That is not my husband.’

“So I sent him a message. I said, ‘Are you under duress? Have they kidnapped you? Talk to me now. Why are you not talking to me?’ This is the message I sent to him when I saw his interview online.

“Oh, Jesus, help me. Nigerians, help me. My husband is in trouble, these are the messages I sent to him, but he didn’t reply me. His numbers are not going through. Nigerians, help me! Nigerians, help me!”

In a video on social media, Nweke’s wife is seen calling on the suspended  Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to intervene on her husband’s whereabouts.

She said: “Governor, help me. My husband is in trouble,” she said, claiming the husband resigned under duress.

Nweke’s  wife said her husband was in trouble and was being forced to confess to things he knew nothing about and that he had resigned to avoid trouble.

But, responding to his wife in another video, the former Head of Service, Nweke, said he was safe and staying at a luxurious hotel in Abuja, waiting for the time to submit himself to security agencies.
