Wigwe University has held its inaugural Founder’s Day Lecture in honour and memory of its visionary founder, Dr Herbert Wigwe, CFR, former Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank and Access Holdings Plc, who tragically passed away last year alongside his beloved wife, Mrs Chizoba Wigwe, and son, Mr Chizi Wigwe.
The lecture recently provided an opportunity for distinguished Nigerians to pay tribute to the legacy of excellence, innovation, and transformative leadership espoused by the late founder of the institution.
During the lecture, the University reaffirmed its commitment to excellence, innovation, and the transformative power of education, noting that it is poised to shape the future of higher education in Africa and beyond.
Speaking during the lecture, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Fabian Ajogwu, OFR, SAN, reminded the institution’s leadership to remain steadfast in its mission to provide a world-class education that empowers students to become leaders, innovators, and change-makers Prof Ajogwu, OFR, SAN noted that key attributes such as excellence, innovation and transformative leadership must continue to inspire the mission of the University. According to him, the institution‘s leadership must adhere to its vision of becoming a global hub for cutting-edge research, scientific discovery, and entrepreneurial development by fostering a fearless community of learners equipped to tackle the challenges of the 21st century.
