FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike’s impactful beginning and goals set before him under President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda necessitate full support from all Nigerians in the Federal Capital Territory, PDP chieftain and three-time member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Teejay Yusuf has said.

Yusuf in a chat with journalists further said “The Senate’s directive for the FCT Minister to revisit the $460 million spent by the federal government on a CCTV project appears to coincide with some narrow attempts to mobilize a group of youth for protests in Abuja but it is glaring that the FCT Minister is actively poised to revamp the nation’s capital and attain ambitious developmental objectives laid out under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.”

In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, Yusuf who represented Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency of Kogi state thrice in the House of Representatives emphasized that like millions of other citizens who have made Abuja their second home over the past two decades, he feels concerned enough to urge all Abuja residents and stakeholders to rally behind Wike’s efforts to restore the city’s lost glory.

“Being widely acknowledged as a dynamic ‘Mr. Projects’ and the manifest potential for record-breaking, people-focused developmental achievements are genuine reasons for all stakeholders to support Nyesom Wike’s vision for a transformed Abuja by disregarding distractions posed by fringe protests and baseless propaganda.

“In no time, Nyesom Wike has exponentially boosted the FCT’s internal revenue base, commenced major infrastructural development projects including massive road rehabilitation and reforms within the Federal Capital Development Authority and life is being breathed into long abandoned projects of all types towards serving Nigerians better.

“Commendably, the strategic Apo-Wasa road which is expected to make life easier for FCT residents by linking up new areas including Apo, Wasa district, Kuje town and the other side of Gwagwalada is now of the projects targeted for completion by May 29 next year; the project was awarded by the FCT in 2017m with a completion period of twelve months.

“The 560 feet Millennium Tower and Cultural Centre along with adjoining structures conceptualized in 2005 under the Olusegun Obasanjo-led administration, and scheduled for completion by 2011 was only 38% completed in 2017 and in 2022, Information Minister Lai Mohammed said that government was looking for $400 million private sector investment to complete it but current FCT minister, Nyesom Wike has however promised to complete the project within two years as one of the legacy projects of the Tinubu administration,” Yusuf noted.

Highlighting the vision and patriotic commitment manifesting from Wike’s strategic decisions, Honourable Yusuf emphasized the significance of Wike’s non-discriminatory and people-focused leadership, citing the establishment of the FCT Civil Service Commission and Women Affairs Secretariat as pivotal for boosting productivity and inclusivity.

According to the former legislator, the dynamic governance process under incumbent FCT Minister clearly serves the needs and aspirations of all Nigerians irrespective of ethnic origin, religious background or political affiliations.

Urging a unified effort in supporting the Minister’s transformative agenda, Honourable Teejay Yusuf expressed amazement that some elements hiding behind hired crowds could hope to derail ongoing progress in the FCT through the use of ludicrous and outright falsehoods against the Minister, stressing that there is no debate over the fact that Abuja stagnated during the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and an FCT Minister whose name can hardly be recalled by most FCT residents today because there was no visible infrastructural development in the entire territory.

“It is very heartwarming that within few months, through his effective and people-focused, development-driven leadership, abandoned projects are coming back to life, there is an on-going resurfacing and rehabilitation of roads in Garki, Wuse, Maitama and Asokoro Districts, majority of damaged street lights and traffic lights are now functional, revenue generation by the Abuja Geographic Information System and other agencies have dramatically increased and life is getting better with projects and inclusivity that impacts all the six area councils of FCT,” he added.
