Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commended contractors working on the Apo and Idu axis projects for their dedication to meet the May completion deadline.

Wike made the commendation during an inspection of ongoing work on the construction of the service carriageway of the Inner Northern Expressway and Apo road.

While explaining the reasons for previous delay, he said the slow progress was primarily due to issues surrounding compensation and the resettlement of local communities affected by the projects.

“The CGC has been working very hard. You can see the speed of work, and they are going to complete it by May, God willing.

“What took time has to do with the compensation issue and the resettlement of the communities that are involved. But now that that has been done, they have mobilized seriously,” he said.

Wike also provided an update on the Idu project, where the contractor, Salini, is reportedly making significant strides.

“They have also said that they are working very hard to see that they hand over by the end of May,” he noted.

The minister addressed the delay in the Idu project, attributing it to the approval process from metro transportation to cross the red line. “Now that approval has come, I believe that more work will be done,” he added.
