Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has appealed to the church to pray for the country and also for President Bola Tinubu to enable him fulfill all the promises he made to Nigerians.

Wike made the appeal at a thanksgiving service organised by the member representing Rivers State in the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Tony Okocha, held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Rumuapara District in Port Harcourt.

The service was held in honour of Okocha over his appointment as NDDC board member and chairman, Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, as well as the birthday of his wife, Dame Ogechi Okocha.

The minister said: “We want the Church to pray for Nigeria and pray for Mr. President so that all promises made will be kept.”

Speaking during the service, Okocha, said God has helped him to push through politically despite obstacles put in his way.

“But, in all, God helped us and we navigated through and today, it is success story. So, I want to thank you for finding time to join us in celebration of what God has done for me and my family,” Okocha said.

The Anglican Bishop of Niger Delta North, Rt. Reverend Wisdom Ihunwo, said sometimes miracles are delayed or refused to come because of arrogance.

Ihunwo also regretted that there is a generalisation that all men of God are not genuine because of infiltration into the ministry by those not called by God.

He said: “Sometimes our miracles are either delayed or does not come to us because of pomposity. Some of us when we talk to people, even the clergy, when they instruct us on what to do, we look down on them.

“Because of adulteration of Ministry, those who called themselves and were not called by God, they now generalise that all men of God are the same. There are still genuine men of God,” the cleric said.
