Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr Nyesom Wike, has commenced another round of project commissioning and flag-offs, focusing on improving water supply across the territory.
This followed a 16-day project commissioning spree that ended on July 3, 2025.
Wike yesterday commissioned the rehabilitated Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant at Lower Usuma Dam in Ushafa, Bwari area council.
In a statement by his senior special assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the minister emphasised the administration’s dedication to addressing water scarcity in the FCT.
“Flag-off of the construction and expansion of water supply to FCT Satellite towns will start tomorrow, with Lot 1, Bwari Township in Bwari area council.
“On Thursday, Lot 2, Karu town and environs in Abuja Municipal Area Council will be flagged off by the Minister.
“Recall that during the commissioning of the Greater Abuja Water Supply Project on June 16, 2025, Wike had revealed that the FCT administration signed a new agreement during President Tinubu’s 2023 visit to China, aimed at extending water supply to satellite communities, including Bwari, Kubwa, and Karu.
“He said Procurement processes for those extensions were near completion, with promises of timely delivery,” the statement reads.
