Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said that he would use 20 days to showcase the administration’s achievements in the education sector and silence online critics.

Wike made the declaration yesterday after commissioning a new engineering infrastructure project in Wuye District of the FCT.

The minister stated that after a brief rest, his focus will shift to unveiling completed educational projects to counter what he termed “social media presidents.”

“We will take 20 days to show Nigerians, to show social media presidents what we have done in the education sector. So we are not going to rush.

“We are not going to rush, we are going to shock them with what we have done in the education sector, so that they will know that President Tinubu’s administration is not only concentrating on infrastructure in the FCT, as regards to the network of roads, it is also focusing on the education sector.

“I have told the chief of staff, we are going to end our flag off, our commissioning, at least for today. 20 days is not two days, so we will take a rest and come back and focus on education,” he said.

Wike used the Wuye project, a 600-hectare district whose contract was awarded in 2009 but abandoned by contractors, as a symbol of the Tinubu administration’s efficacy.

He challenged previous administrations to match the current project delivery pace.

“It was an administration since the inception of the Federal Capital Territory but I am beating this record of Asiwaju Tinubu. Let him speak up now or forever remain silent,” Wike dared.

He framed the flurry of project completions as a hallmark of committed leadership.

“What does it show? It shows leadership that is committed. It shows leadership that is willing to change the lives of the people.

“If you are supporting Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, I am going to support you. So, if you know you have not changed your mind, don’t change your mind. Because very soon, very soon, there will be a political tsunami,” he said.

He praised the contractor, Arab Contractors, for continuing work despite outstanding debts, and directed public attention to other projects, like the road from the Airport to Kuje, as evidence of transformative development.

“My problem in this country is that everything must be politics. Asiwaju has changed the entire landscape of our city,” he said.

Addressing his style, the minister advised focusing on results. “I have told people, don’t bother about my face.

Don’t bother about how I look. What’s important is the job being done.”

“I will change the narratives. We will show the opposition. Tell them to come and see that FCT is working,” he said.

In her remarks, the FCT minister of state, Mariya Mahmoud, described the Wuye project as giving communities the infrastructure they deserve and the comfort they have long awaited.

“As we celebrate this achievement, let us remember that every milestone is a promise kept, and every completion is a beginning anew,” she stated.

Mahmoud expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and extended profound appreciation to Wike for his exemplary leadership and relentless drive to deliver projects that touch lives and uplift communities.
