Senior special assistant on public communications and social media to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Lere Olayinka, has faulted activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, on his frequent criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s character and the state of Nigerian democracy.
In a series of posts on his social media page, Olayinka accused the activist of being incapable of practicing the democratic principles he preaches.
The statement came in reaction to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) website listing Sowore as national chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC), the party he led as its presidential candidate in the 2019 and 2023 elections.
“People shouting democracy up and down, he is the party chairman, he is the presidential candidate, he is everything, dictator in militocracy,” Olayinka wrote.
He challenged Sowore to imagine a scenario where President Tinuba held a similar level of control over his own party, suggesting the activist’s outcry would be severe.
“Now imagine President Tinubu also as the chairman of APC. Imagine what our professional human rice and beans activist will be saying,” he stated.
Citing Sowore’s uninterrupted leadership of the AAC since its founding in 2018, Olayinka argued that the activist “trusts no one apart from himself.”
“Like I have maintained, they preach what they can’t practice. They do to people what they can’t let anyone do to them. They are hypocrites,” Olayinka claimed.
He further said of Sowore’s electoral performance; “With his 14,603 votes, he wants to be president, vice president, senate president, speaker and Chief Justice of Nigeria.”
