Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) has held a mentoring session to equip the Nigerian Under 19 female team, the Junior Yellow Greens, participating in the competition to improve their leadership capacity and foster a winning spirit ahead of the 2025 International Cricket Council (ICC) tournament.

The mentoring session which is under the WIMBIZ Big Sisters’ programme is designed to equip the girls with life skills and knowledge that will boost their confidence and leadership capacity.

The ladies were taught and mentored on visioning, building their personal brand, money management as well as mental and sexual health by accomplished female professionals across various sectors.

Commenting on the mentorship programme, the president of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, Uyi Akpata, commended WIMBIZ for the mentoring session, noting that it was a good initiative giving the girls access to such information at a very early stage as it will prepare them for the future.

Akpata also pledged to continue partnering with WIMBIZ to mentor more young girls in sport.

Also, the team’s coach, Steve Tikolo appreciated WIMBIZ for the Big Sisters’ initiative saying he wished he and his colleagues had been given access to the information given to the girls earlier in their careers.

He stressed that many former professional athletes wouldn’t have been lost nor have challenges with managing their finances if they had been given such enlightenment.
