Windstorm Destroys 100 Houses In Kebbi

A windstorm has destroyed 100 houses in Zauro town of Birnin Kebbi local government area of Kebbi State.

A resident of the area who is also the special adviser to the governor on special duties, Hon Shafi’u Abubakar Zauro disclosed this yesterday to LEADERSHIP during an interview in Zauro town.

According to him, the incident occurred on Saturday in the night during a heavy downpour which started with heavy windstorm and lasted for two hours.

He said apart from the destruction of the houses, there was also the destruction of animals and other properties worth millions of naira.

The state government has directed for the immediate release of relief materials consisting of zinc, roofing sheets, cement and food items to the victims to enable them rebuild their houses.

 The directive was given yesterday by the deputy governor of the state, Umar Abubakar Tafidan Kabi during his assessment tour of the area.

The deputy governor who sympathised with the victims during the visit on behalf of the governor, Nasir Idris, directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to immediately assess the losses and affected victims and provide support to them.
