Wizkid, a Nigerian afrobeat and afro-pop singer who’s full name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun was born on July 16, 1990, in Surulere Lagos.

Wizkid is a Grammy-winning Nigerian singer and global Afrobeats icon which has released multiple chart topping <a href=”https://ghettovibez9ja.com.ng/”>songs</a> in the music industry. As of 2026 he is 36 years old. Rising to fame in 2010, he has built a massive global brand, with his net worth currently estimated to be around $40 million to $80 million.

Biography

Wizkid grew up in a large, interfaith household in Lagos. His father, Alhaji Muniru Olatunji Balogun is a Sunni Muslim and his mother the late Jane Dolapo Balogun was a devoted Christian. He has numerous female siblings. Wizkid began singing in his church choir at age 11, eventually forming a gospel group called the Glorious Five before pivoting to secular music.

Music Career

He achieved his major breakthrough in 2010 under Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E) with the smash hit single “Holla at Your Boy”. This success led to his debut album, Superstar (2011). He later founded his own record label “Starboy Entertainment” and secured his international position by featuring on Drake’s global anthem “One Dance” in 2016. His 2020 album Made in Lagos and its breakout hit “Essence” (featuring Tems) made history as the first Nigerian song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Wizkid’s contributions to Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl” earned him a Grammy Award for Best Music Video in 2021. He followed up with major projects including More Love, Less Ego and continued to tour major arenas worldwide.

Wizkid has released multiple high ranking songs including; Fake Love Featuring Duncan Mighty, Pana, Diana, Wash, Ontop Your Matter, Essence, Come Closer, Joro, Fever, Blessed, Energy, Ma Lo, Daddy Yo, Ginger, His latest 2026 song Alive which he collaborated a renowned music artist Jorja Smith and lot’s more electrifying hits. As he continued to live his low key life, Wizkid has also helped many young, up and coming artists achieve their music career dreams there by creating a road of success for young artists which makes him stand out amongst others.
